Weekly Update

June 10, 2022

Dear SAU 90 Staff and Families,

At this time of year there are many celebrations and opportunities for our community to come together on behalf of our students.  These past weeks, Marston had their Celebration of Learning and Centre hosted their Learning Festival.  Hampton Academy held their band and chorus concerts this week as well. We are so proud of our students, their successes, and their learning this year.  For your planning purposes, there will be an ESOL Family Event this coming Monday, June 13 from 4-6:00 PM at the Centre School Cafeteria.

Congratulations to the PTA and the great success of their spring family event last Saturday, Party on the Park!  There were food trucks, live music, and entertainment.  Everyone seemed to have an enjoyable time on a beautiful spring evening with their friends and classmates.  What a great way to end the school year.  Special thanks to Erika York and Sarah Elliott for their hard work in coordinating this special event!

Many staff and parents have reached out to me regarding student safety.  Please know that we are all feeling heavy-hearted about the recent catastrophic incident in Uvalde, Texas.  We take the safety of our school community very seriously.  This is and always is, our top priority.  Governor Sununu, along with the Commissioner from the Department of Safety, Robert Quinn and Commissioner from the Department of Education, Frank Edelblut has reached out to all Superintendents, Emergency Management Directors, Police Chiefs, and Fire Chiefs regarding the School Safety Preparedness Task Force.  Focus of their work has been around policies and procedures, relationships with first responders, internal communication, external communication, social and emotional wellness, trainings – drills – and exercises, and the School Safety Resource Center.  Rest assured, we are working with the leadership team and our Hampton First Responders to ensure we are doing everything we can as a community. We will be meeting next Wednesday to continue conversations regarding this critically important work.

Next week is the last week of school for our students.  During this time, there will be many events and activities to culminate our school year.  Two very important traditions that we will continue are our Fifth Grade Farewell Assembly and our Eighth Grade Final Assembly.  You should be hearing from your child’s principal regarding these two milestone events.  Additionally, yearbooks will be available to our students.  These will be delivered to those families who pre-ordered them.  They will serve as a wonderful keepsake of our time together commemorating the school year.

Tonight is the Winnacunnet High School graduation.  This event is hosted by SAU 21, and I look forward to representing our district at this community event.  We know that many of our former students will be moving on afterwards.  We wish to congratulate all of our Hampton families with graduating seniors.  To all of our WHS graduates - best wishes!  Remember graduates, you have left an impression on all of us and we cannot wait to see what you will accomplish next! And yes, we will be watching ☺

Wishing you a great weekend ahead,

Proudly,
Dr. Lois B. Costa
Superintendent of SAU 90
