Dear SAU 90 Staff and Families,
Monday, October 2 is Custodian Appreciation Day! We would like to extend our sincere wishes and gratitude to Facilities Manager, Mr. Keith Lessard and his staff for helping to maintain the safety and cleanliness of our buildings. We recognize the difficult and challenging job they do each and every day. We are happy and appreciative that they are here with all of us ensuring our safety and well-being! Mr. Lessard and staff, thank you for the work that you do! Your hard work and efforts do not go unnoticed.
Hampton Academy and Marston families received notification that their students would be invited to participate in the Quaglia Student Voice Student Survey in October. The Student Survey measures student perceptions surrounding students’ self-worth, engagement, and sense of purpose – vital factors for all students to realize academic, personal, and social success in school. Under New Hampshire law, students must complete the opt-in form to participate. Additionally, all parents and guardians, and staff will be invited to participate in the survey as well. This survey aims to understand our learning communities better and develop action steps for improving our schools. Your voice matters to us!
During our in-service day on September 20, staff had the opportunity to receive training from the Connor’s Climb Foundation. The purpose of this required yearly training is to help all staff members become aware of the signs associated with suicide. The organization's mission is to provide suicide prevention education to New Hampshire youth and the community. They strive to raise awareness, reduce the stigma around mental health, and equip youth, educators, and communities with the tools and resources needed. Last night, we hosted a training for parents and the community from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Hampton Academy Auditorium. We thank everyone who attended the event. More information can be found here: https://www.connorsclimb.org/
This past Wednesday, the Hampton Leadership Team along with our Student Resource Officers (SRO’s) met with Chief Reno from the Hampton Police Department and Chief McMahon from Hampton Fire and Rescue. The purpose of this meeting was to continue our conversations regarding our safety practices. As a result of these collaborative efforts, we have been able to prioritize goals and objectives for the coming school year. We appreciate our partnership and outreach with Chief Reno and Chief McMahon. The safety of our schools and community continues to be our greatest priority.
On Thursday, we held an orientation for guest teachers who substitute in our schools. During this informational session, we were able to review procedures and protocols of the positions. There was also a time for conversations, questions, and answers. This discussion and feedback help us respond to our substitutes' needs. Guest teachers are an asset to our schools, and we are appreciative of everyone who took time out of their day to attend.
If you are interested in substituting in our district and being a guest teacher, applications can be found here. Also, we are currently looking for a part-time food prep/sandwich maker at the Marston School four hours a day from 7:30 – 11:30 AM with room for some flexibility following the school calendar. Competitive wages are available, along with a great work environment. Please contact Mary Borg for more information at Mborg@sau90.org or 603-926-9826.
In closing, it has been a pleasure to visit with Centre School students this week! It is so exciting to see all of our students participating in fall sports, attending field trips, and being involved with their after-school activities! It has certainly been a very exciting first month of the school year! Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
Gratefully,
Dr. Lois B. Costa
Superintendent of SAU 90
