Dear SAU 90 Families,
As you know, we are currently under a heat advisory in our region which has pushed temperatures in some of our uncooled classroom spaces into the mid-80's. That said, it is our intention to have schools open tomorrow. We have taken steps within our schools to utilize our best-ventilated spaces, limit sun-exposure and strenuous activity, and encourage students to stay hydrated. Water is available in all of our schools. We also encourage students to dress for the weather.
Additionally, tomorrow is the start of the Seafood Festival. We have reached out to First Student to ensure they are prepared for afternoon runs. They have assured us that they are indeed ready. Please remember that traffic is difficult to gauge and we will continue to monitor those afternoon routes.
In closing, we have attached information from the CDC regarding signs and symptoms of heat-related illnesses. As always, you, as parents, have the right to keep your child home if you feel that it is the safest option. Absences due to heat will be excused.
Please take care and do what you feel is in the best interest of your child and family.
Kind regards, Dr. Lois Costa
